Keep your beans at their best!

Storage

Storing your coffee properly is one of the essential keys to creating a great tasting cup!

Where and how you keep your coffee will determine how long it will last you. Air is the coffee bean’s enemy, so storing it in an AIRTIGHT container is absolutely crucial!

Treat your beans like bread:

Storing for up to one week?
Keep in an airtight container at room temperature.

For one – two weeks? Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

For more than two weeks? The freezer is the best option, of course in an airtight container!

If you don’t order your coffee in the whole bean form, you certainly can store already ground beans the same way.

Examples of airtight containers include sealed hard plastic and glass, doubled or tripled plastic freezer bags, screw-on canning jars or plastic containers, and vacuum-sealed bags. The best containers are glass, as they are the least permeable.

Grinding

Grinding your coffee properly is one of the first things you can do to get an awesome tasting cup!

Whether you grind it in your kitchen or at your place of purchase, you need to know how coarse or fine those coffee beans should be ground for the filter type in your brewer. We offer several different grinds to match your equipment:

DRIP
This is the most common grind which is used in automatic drip machines (the kind you plug in and use a paper filter in the basket).

WHOLE BEAN
What we recommend if you’re able to grind your beans at home. This keeps the coffee the most fresh.

ESPRESSO
This grind should only be used in pressurized espresso makers that use steam forced through the grounds to extract that oh-so-heavenly flavor.

FINE
Unless used with a metal cone-shaped filter, this grind is a bit finicky. Your coffee may end up tasting bitter!

COARSE
Use this grind if you brew via a French Press or with any type of manual drip/steep process.

The above are guidelines to help you get started, but please! Feel free to adjust to your tastes! You’re the one drinking cup after cup after all!
